Interview with GreenJolly
How are you feeling today? What has been the feedback of your promotion tour around Europe? Roman Kalyn: We are psychically fit, but a bit tired of all the traveling. However, we are having a good feedback from the people of the places we have been and that helps us to carry on. We believe that every participant on Eurovision should do the same thing. The promo tour helps to see how the songs will be accepted by people around Europe. Roman Kostyuk: In every country we have been received in a very warm way. People react very well to the song and from the second chorus they start to sing along with us.

Roman Kalyn: What are your expectations in terms of results for the Eurovision Songcontest?
Roman Kalyn: Let’s say we hope to see the Eurovision Songcontest back in Kyiv, in 2006. You didn't expect the reaction of the people to your song during the Orange Revolution. How does it feel to be so deeply connected with recent Ukrainian history?
Roman Kalyn: As every patriot, we feel very grateful to the people and it is an honor to be part of the history of Ukraine. We were also very proud and honored get a medal from President Yuschenko.

Your song was inspired on the slogans you heard in the streets. Do you think that it also inspired people to fight during the revolution and will inspire in the future?
Roman Kostyuk: We hope that our song touches the heart of European people as it touched the Ukrainians. In November, it was the song to support the Ukrainians and now we believe it will stand for the liberty of all people.

What was the feeling of the people during the Orange Revolution and how did you live that period?
Roman Kostyuk: People went to Maydan (Independence Square in Kyiv) because they wanted to struggle for justice. The life in Ukraine was that difficult that what happened in the first round of the elections was the last drop.
Roman Kalyn: As patriots and as musicians, we just couldn’t stand-by, so we also fought with people in the streets of our city. On the second day of the Orange Revolution we wrote the song to support the people in our town, Ivano – Frankivsk, but it got somehow to Kyiv and then spread all over Ukraine.

The other songs on Eurovision are mainly pop and some of them are ethnic. Do you consider that a rap/hip-hop song will make a difference among other songs?
Roman Kalyn: One of the main components of a victory in the Eurovision Songcontest is the originality of a song and the ability to be unexpected. Hip Hop is one of the most popular music styles in the world, so why not  a hip-hop song winning the ESC.

What do you think about the other songs? Your favorite song(s)?
Roman Kalyn: We have already been to some countries, we have met some of the contestants and we like a few songs. We like Brujeria, from Spain; we even sang the song with Son de Sol.  Chiara from Malta and Feminnem from Bosnia are also some of our favorites.

Do you thing that the Eurovision Song contest will be a good window to show Ukraine to Europe and to the World?
Roman Kostyuk: Last year Ruslana won and that helped to open the window of Ukraine to the World. This year we are going to host the ESC 2005 and we feel very responsible to try to organize this event with very high levels and make everyone see what Ukraine can do.

What are your plans to the future after the ESC 2005?
Roman Kalyn: We are going to continue to write our songs and after the Eurovision we are going to release our first album. Then were starting a tour with the new songs so Europe can know what Greenjolly does besides Eurovision.

Finally, I would like to ask you to send a message to the fans and to people around Europe.
Roman Kalyn: We want to send our warmest regards from the Ukraine. We want everyone to be openhearted and warmhearted the way we were met and accepted round Europe. If you come to Kyiv have fun and enjoy yourselves and. By the way don't forget to vote for us.
